  • Horsemanship 101
    Wendy"I have been studying natural horsemanship for some time now and have attended many natural horsemanship clinics, so I was concerned that MRHT's Horsemanship 101 course would be too basic. However, I was very pleasantly surprised to find that the course offered a great deal to both me and my horse. The course focused on the relationship between horse and human and I definately got a lot out of it, as did my horse.

    "Safety around horses is a very important aspect at MRHT, as it is to me. This course was helpful in demonstrating how to stay safe around horses through more effective communication with my equine partner. Respect, empathy and leadership (from the horses' point of view) were explored and there were demonstrations with a variety of horses, each with a different personality, which helped drive home these concepts.

    Leona"This was my second time through the Horsemanship 101 course. My first time participating I worked with a tried and true MRHT lesson horse who was grounded in his knowledge of the skills. Learning alongside a lesson horse helped me to build my confidence so that I knew I was actually communicating clearly. This most recent time doing the course, I brought my personal horse of five years. It was amazing to see how well she did and how far she flourished in the weekend. I also gained a very valuable awareness of exactly where she and I had become stuck in the basics, which has helped our relationship tremendously. It really helps to have another set of eyes observing our interactions.     Traci"Horsemanship 201 greatly increased my comfort with and understanding of the techniques previously learned in MRHT's Horsemanship 101. This course furthered my insight into the importance of learning the foundational skills and helped me better understand how their progression with more advanced techniques fit together. The highlight of the course was learning how to read and relate to the different horse personality types. By understanding how to best support each type of horse, my confidence in my leadership soared because I felt knowledgable about the feedback I was receiving from the horse. But Emily's Horsemanship 201 blended the H101 skills into the new H201 skills so fluidly that my mare and I had no problem.   • Truck and Trailer Safety and Handling
    Andrea"I had been struggling with anxiety and frustration whenever I needed to trailer my horse. I had zero confidence in maneuvering my rig and was paranoid that I would have to back up! And to make matters worse my horse started to pick up on my unease and would refuse to load. All of that is behind me now having just completed the Truck and Truck Safety and Handling Clinic at MRHT!

    "This clinic is packed with useful information and addresses a full spectrum of topics from truck/trailer combinations to hands-on maneuvering of different rigs to what items should be kept in your first-aid kit. I had questions answered that I didn't even realize I had wanted to ask! All of this is wrapped up in a very positive, friendly, and relaxed learning environment.     Teresa"The knowledge and hands-on skills I learned in MRHT's Equine First Aid clinic have been of huge value to me. When my mare recently injured her leg I knew exactly how to care for the wound and was able to discuss it with my vet with confidence and knowledge. When the vet arrived, he was thoroughly impressed with the prompt and proper first aid I had performed on the wound.
